Alumnus of Fine Arts 2021
Biography
The work of Kaspar Dejong is in line with the semiotic tradition exploring and studying signs and symbols as a significant part of communication. 'I tend to re-use existing imagery and objects from my daily surrounding and deconstruct these objects and images in such a way that their signals lose meaning and/or their authority and original function is being questioned.' The subjects that Dejong broaches arise from a fascination for the obvious, the everyday and small beauty. Processes in which the ravages show itself. Kaspar Dejong (Maastricht, 1995).
