Familiar sounds & other ghost stories

This mixtape combines my own voice narration alongside diegetic sound recordings from my family archive, effectively mixing what were autofictional vignettes with an element of reality afforded by the recordings. In this work, I utilise sound as the building material for an imaginative acoustic space that collapses spatiotemporal distance so I can approximate my the spectres of my family history. The project is contained in a cassette deck which, as a physical artefact, anchors the exercise in a history of technologically mediated intimacy.
