Cherry stones
An LP record made of untreated wood spins on a turntable. Duct tape pieces on its surface create a rhythmic beat, like a steady heartbeat that holds everything together and always continues. Nearby to the LP record is another voice present: a bucket filled with water and black aquarium stones. A hand reaches down into the bucket, causing a sweeping sound as it moves through the submerged stones. Occasionally, stones are lifted, felt before they’re dropped back into the bucket, creating a sloshing sound. In the background, a speaker emits very low frequencies, between 20-35 Hz. Cherry stones are dropped onto the speaker, their movements uncontrolled, ranging from soft to aggressive while dancing to the vibrations. A gradual crescendo emerges from the sound of a metal sheet. Resting on a vibrating speaker, the bulky metal resonates with deep, underlying tones. As time passes, the metal sheet and the popping cherry stones slowly fade out. Only the persistent beat of the LP record remains, continuing until a hand raises the needle.
