The bachelor project MA-SHA is a readymade feminist jewelry collection that deals with power, gender and object. The language of objects has a direct effect on us and is often connected to our societal perception of power. At the same time, every object we discern to be powerful is connoted to the male gender. Designers still lose themselves in the models of patriarchal society and reinforce them through their design. As a resistance to this current, gender sensitive design aims to dissolve essentialist categories of gender identities and acknowledges the necessity of requirement. This collection is aimed at female and non-cismale wearers to strengthen them and create new symbols through powerful female objects. The result of the collection is five pieces of jewelry that show the discrimination and suppression of the female gender in the fields of financial freedom, physical integrity, sexual freedom, physical self-determination and freedom of movement. The individual pieces include a readymade artifact which is transformed and staged in the shape of jewelry into a powerful statement. The first piece is a signet ring made of cast silver, which has been gilded and a setted EMV chip. The second piece is a knuckle ring with keys, and the third piece is a necklace, which consists of a stainless-steel dildo, a chain and holder. The fourth piece of jewelry is a mask from a motorcycle helmet visor, and the last piece is a pair of earrings, which show the federal eagle insignia of the German passport.
