Nauta, alum of F for Fact; Alice dos Reis, alum of Fine Arts; Aidan Wall, alum of Critical Studies; and Kristoffer Zeiner, alum of Studio for Immediate Spaces. It takes place at Personeelskamer, Zuid Hollandstraat 7, 1082EK, Amsterdam, on 30 June, 18:00–22:00 hrs.
I am Carried Along Down the Stream is a group exhibition of small wall based works shown at Personeelskamer and organised by Philip Coyne. First and foremost, it is an exhibition of a number of artworks. Artworks that have been brought together and placed in a room in the south of Amsterdam. They have been gathered intuitively work by work, chosen as much for what happens between them as anything else. The works do share a set of vicinities; they sit within an aesthetic and affective range, many of their materialities and orientations align, they are embedded within similar personal and professional networks, and now they find themselves in this new purely geographical vicinity. But mostly what they share, they brought themselves.
There has been no overriding curatorial conceit imposed upon the show, besides perhaps the observation that, given the opportunity, it is nice to simply exhibit works that you really enjoy alongside other works that you really enjoy. And that when you do so, much like an upturned log, you find the apparent emptiness of this rationale to be teaming with life. The exhibition contains works by AJN AKKA (Léona Farruġia & John Henry Newton), Emii Alrai, Anouk Asselineau, Gino Attwood, Jonathan Castro Alejos, G.C. Heemskerk, Danae Io, Bin Koh, Bernice A. Nauta, Liv Preston, Alice dos Reis, Smári Róbertsson, David Steans, Matt Welch, Samuel White and Kristoffer Zeiner, shown alongside a series of new collages by Aidan Wall and a short fictional text by Lucie Fortuin.
