Digi Detox Shopping Network
Live-stream performance, 20:00 min, presented at SardegnaTeatro (Cagliari, Italy)
An experimental one-woman show that invites the audience to step inside the taping of a livestream. Staged as a parody of a 90s-style home shopping channel, this multimedia play fuses performance, video projections, and real-time live editing to create a hybrid experience that is at once physical and digital. Martyna Pekala, the artist and host of Digi Detox Shopping Network, will guide the viewer through a catalogue of the most bizarre mobile apps designed to aid phone detox and decrease screen time. In this playfully abstract performance, she transforms these tools of digital wellness into curious objects of spectacle. The performance intertwines retro media aesthetics with today’s growing anxieties around screen addiction. By satirizing the digital detox as yet another consumerist commodity, Pekala provokes the audience to reflect on the paradoxes of our tech-obsessed culture.
