Lips Made of Petals
Video, 8:51
An experimental short film by Martyna Pekala following a character on a quest to touch grass, in order to go back online. This concept is inspired by the real-life mobile app that requires its users to send a photo of touching grass to unblock their social media. In this work, Pekala explores self-gaze in relation to the algorithmic gaze. Just as the interfaces of social media apps frame reality as fantasy, Lips Made of Petals engages with it critically through a fever-dream-like journey through layers of detachment.
