Metopia

The two performers become live sculptures, frozen in one pose, prompting the audience to question whether they are real people or inanimate mannequins. Their costumes suggest that they are the physicalised versions of the artist's virtual avatar, a digital reference to the "self". In the performance, her physical body is not literally present, but her own image reoccurs in many elements of the costumes, like the box or the skirt. In this way, the artist takes on a double role - as both the maker and the subject and reflects on the process of creating and maintaining an online presence on social media.
