Demonstration for a Monitor (2020)

Video (color, sound), 5.25 min ‘Demonstration for a Monitor’ is a sequence of image-objects that, to me, appear to be almost one singular thing, telling the same tale, shifting in and out of different shapes and skins. These are vibrant things that render me dumb as a stone and make me plunge headfirst into the abyss. Things, such as a Nike shoe, or an ancestral skull, seem to be as ‘human’ as they are ‘inhuman,’ as part of me as they are of the Other, as technological as they are ‘natural,’ of our time as they are historical. It’s in the moment of trying to force these unfathomably complex hybrids and assemblages into simplified phenomena and categories, where also the genesis of their imposed monstrosity seems to take place.
