Supplement to the Future Dictionary

Year

2019

'Supplement to the Future Dictionary' investigates the increasing presence of technology and its possible consequences on the future of gestural communication. It starts from the analysis of the gestures that we perform when using technological devices and speculates on how these could evolve in the future. The fingers splay used to zoom in a picture could come to mean 'Tell me more' and the swipe left that allows switching to the next Instagram story could become the new 'Next please!'. With a similar logic, I developed 46 possible future gestures and divided them into four sections: Cell Phone, Computer, Social and Sound.
